Day 6

Worked on the blog a little bit. I have removed most of the stuff that didn't make sense to me on the source side. That stuff might've been important but I don't know what it does, nor do I want to bother with finding out what it does.

I didn't write anything over the weekend because I was busy. I didn't know why I'm trying to justify it here. Me writing down my thoughts on literally nothing doesn't seem to be important, nor does it seem to help anyone. Wouldn't journaling be a much better alternative to blogging for what I'm doing? Can't say.

I intend to start writing some tutorials/guides and other nonsense, when I'm done rewiring the website and am done setting up an emacs based workflow to write stuff on the website. Currently, I write this blog in Intellij IDEA, which is fine but I can't actually write anywhere else other than my mac mini. None of my other machines have Idea installed, mostly because I didn't bother messing around with Guix Shell Containers to setup intellij.

Projects

modruse

modruse is a Skyrim Mod Manager.
Worked on an installer script for installing skyrim using the gog installer. It uses innoextract to extract the files and then I just cp & mv the files until it looks good. The only issue is that installing skyrim requires making registry edits.
I initially installed Skyrim using the exe installer in wine, and it setup some registry entries that need to be setup so that the options menu is accessible. I still need to investigate which exact entry enables the option menu.
Other than that, I need to start working on the linking module for this project. That is the main one which will effectively allow me to have a skyrim modding utility of my own. Installer & FOMOD parsing can come later, initially I just want to use the MO2 installed mods and link them in the game root.
